The Royal Thai Army has launched an initiative to introduce “Muaythai” to the U.S. military and other allied forces, creating an enthusiastic training environment.
U.S. soldiers and allied forces have actively participated in Muaythai training after the Royal Thai Army, through the Army Sports Development Center (Lumpinee Muay Thai), supported by the Subcommittee for Sports Industry Advancement and the Sports Authority of Thailand, sent a team of Muay Thai trainers to Schofield Barracks in Hawaii, USA. The training is scheduled from October 20 to November 2, 2024.

In this session, the Thai Army is teaching U.S. soldiers the basics of Muay Thai, including:
• Stance
• Movement
• Punches: jab, cross, hook, uppercut, overhead, and superman punch
• Elbow techniques: elbow strike, cut elbow, upward elbow, thrust elbow, diagonal elbow, and flying elbow.
For the exchange program, U.S. soldiers are instructing techniques like grappling, clinching, and controlling an opponent, which has gained great interest from allied forces, who participate daily.

Additional Information:
The instructors chosen as speakers for this session have undergone refresher training in Muay Thai with a C license certification (40 trainers). They also received training in English command skills from March to April 2024. The project, “Muaythai for Officials,” is set to start its mission in Hawaii, USA, with other allied countries targeted for future phases.
